The 2021 250 east supercross champion Colt Nichols posted an update on his crash at Anaheim 1. It was not the news that fans wanted to hear. He took to Twitter saying “I wanted to share a quick update with everyone. I ended up breaking both arms and had surgery as well as a quick little skin graft to help with the burns on my back. I should be heading home any day to begin the recovery process”.

Colt Nichols’s post on Twitter.

Very unfortunate news as Colt Nichols was looking to join the likes on Grant Langston and James Stewart as riders who have won championships on both coasts (although Langston and Stewart did it back when they rode 125s in the lites class). Unlikely that we will see Colt Nichols return this season after this. By the time he is healthy he will be well out of title contention. And that is if he were to even become healthy enough to return at some point this season. One thing is for sure, he probably won’t want to rush back, no reason to. His time on the 250 is coming to a close, so no reason to risk further injury and set yourself back even further before making the jump to 450. Hoping for nothing but a quick and speedy recovery for Nichols during this difficult time.
