No Hope Lost

The Celina Bulldog Volleyball team capped off a fantastic season with a heartbreaking loss against the Elida Bulldogs, their Western Buckeye League rival in the District Semi-Finals that took place in Leipsic, OH. Celina, despite their tough fight, lost in three straight sets, bringing their final record to a phenomenal nineteen wins and five losses.
For Celina fans, there is no reason to lose hope. With a roster consisting of twenty student-athletes, the Bulldogs are only losing four seniors. Although three of the four seniors received division eight honors, the Bulldogs possess the Division 1, 2, and 3 Coach of the Year, Phil Bange, along with the Division 2 player of the year, Brooklyn Bourne, and First Team All-Star, Peyton Bertke, who are both Juniors. Along with their all-stars, the team has a number of other Juniors and Sophomores who have plenty of minutes in Varsity matches.

Celina’s loss was sooner than they all expected but their resume was nothing short of spectacular. The Bulldogs went into the tournament with honors of the Western Buckeye League champs, going 9-0 in the regular season which makes their loss in the tournament even more significant. Along with their championship, the dogs were a dominant force on their home turf by going undefeated when opponents traveled to Celina.
Going into their 2022 season, the Bulldogs will return to the court with their Coach of the Year and their All-Stars leading their way with the goal of back-to-back WBL championships in sight.
